Channel Country and Gulf of Carpentaria
Monday 11th to Monday 18th July 2022
Flying in your private chartered Cessna Caravan aircraft with a maximum of just 7 guests, start your adventure from Shellharbour (Wollongong). Each day you’ll be enthralled with a bird’s eye perspective of the true Outback of far western Queensland. The superlative channel country of the Cooper Creek and Diamantina River floodplains is best admired from the air. We fly to the Gulf of Carpentaria via Windorah then Lark Quarry where we see first hand the footprints of dinosaurs. Our overnight visit of the historic town of Winton reveals its connection to Waltzing Matilda and there’s the open air cinema – still operational. At Croydon we ride the iconic once-per-week Gulflander train to Normanton then enjoy sunset at the Gulf of Carpentaria. Turning southerly we visit Lawn Hill NP, the Boulia Camel Races, the famous Birdsville Hotel and our final night will be at Pincally Station – a remote and special experience.
