This bespoke 8 day tour features not one but three chartered trains. Starting and finishing at Thirroul we travel with our chartered coach which complements our off-train journeys and tour insights.
Heading north our first train will take us along the scenic NSW North Coast from Paterson to Grafton. Then its up into the mountains to the New England and Glen Innes where we savour a Celtic experience. Next we cross the Queensland border to Stanthorpe to join our second chartered train. We will enjoy much enjoyable travelling aboard this Southern Downs Railway train as we visited the garden city of Toowoomba, Oakey, Warwick and to the south west regional town of Goondiwindi.

Each day you’ll be enthralled with a bird’s eye perspective of the true Outback. We fly to Winton via the quintessential outback towns of Eulo and Thargomindah and land at Lark Quarry where we see first hand the footprints of dinosaurs. Our overnight visit of the historic town of Winton reveals its connection to Waltzing Matilda.
The spectacle of the Queensland Channel Country is best appreciated from your window seat – each guest has their own window – as we fly to Birdsville for overnight. Experience the sunset from Big Red – one of the giant red dunes in the Simpson Desert. Our aerial tour then takes us south- west from Birdsville following the Diamantina River to Lake Eyre and the Painted Desert – a natural phenomena of varied coloured hills. The ancient, rugged and majestic Flinders Ranges feature a 2 night stay and a whole day of special touring from our comfortable base at Arkaroola.
Our final day is flying over Lake Frome, Broken Hill, Menindee Lakes to World Heritage Listed Lake Mungo where we have an exclusive tour and lunch before re-boarding our plane for the flight to Wollongong.
This is a 7 day tour by luxury chartered aircraft visiting 5 of the Tasmanian islands: Flinders, King, Maria, Bruny and Sarah. We spend 2 nights on each of the Bass Strait islands of King and Flinders and we have comprehensive guided sightseeing throughout the tour. You’ll see the contrasts between the islands: seaweed harvesting, a 7000 year old calcified forest, penguins, a former Tasmanian aboriginal mission, the renown King Island Dairy, former penal colony and the resupply port for French and English sailors as well as the site of Australia’s worst maritime accident.
